Rwanda's National AI Policy

The National Artificial Intelligence Policy for the Republic of Rwanda serves as a roadmap to enable Rwanda to harness the benefits of AI and mitigate its risks. Building on the mission of the Vision 2050, Smart Rwanda Master Plan and other key national plans and policies, it equips Rwanda to harness AI for sustainable and inclusive growth. By mobilizing local, regional, and international stakeholders, it positions Rwanda to become a leading African Innovation Hub and Africa’s Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence.

Rwanda's Law on Protection of Personal Data & Privacy

Rwanda’s landmark legislation on data protection and privacy, which has positioned Rwanda to become a regional leader in data governance. C4IR Rwanda played a critical role in the drafting of the law, leading a multi-stakeholder consultative process, and providing expert opinion throughout parliamentary deliberations.

Rwanda Artificial Intelligence (AI) Triage Pilot

Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase access to healthcare is an attractive approach for developing nations with limited healthcare resources. However with lagging regulations on the use of AI in healthcare, “soft governance” mechanisms such as the Chatbots RESET framework from the World Economic Forum offer on-ramps for rapid adoption while enabling responsible use of the technology.

National Conversations in Artificial Intelligence examines the different approaches countries are taking to engage to their population on the benefits and risks of AI in society, and how to obtain their trust in the wide scale adoption of AI. Africa 4th Industrial Revolution Standardization Strategy (2021-2025)

This strategy seeks to guide the development of industry standards and policy harmonization to enhance trade within the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) single market and illuminate how standards are a key driver and enabler of economic activities. C4IR Rwanda contributed to this body of work.
